Private retirement communities are essentially very difficult to find in High Wycombe and on this particular development, they are rarely available – especially ground floor apartments. This property is available to anyone over the age of 60 and will suit those that wish to have some company because this development has its own community centre which provides coffee mornings on a Tuesday, bingo on a Wednesday and scrabble on Monday and Thursday evenings. Those that attend the coffee morning also contribute towards a fish and chip lunch which happens two or three times a year. A group have also recently saved up for a trip to see a show at the Wycombe Swan too. You can be as involved or inactive within the community as you wish – the option is there to join in. The community centre has a large lounge and kitchen facility, which can be hired out for a donation and attached to this is a guest suite with full en-suite that is available for hire at £5.00 per evening for visitors of residents. Built in 1987, the 99-year lease is renewed upon change of ownership and the maintenance charges pay for the cost of the warden, the upkeep of the grounds and all external decoration. Moving onto the property itself, the property is a good size and is fitted with a state of the art emergency call system that connects directly to the warden. There are pull cords in every room of the apartment and due to the telecom system; the warden can converse with you without you even moving from your chair. The vendors have spent quite a large sum of money on changing the bathroom too – the original bath has been removed and re-fitted with a walk in enclosable bath and shower with a fold down seat – perfect for purchasers who are beginning to find getting on and out of the bath difficult. Overall, this is an excellent apartment with excellent facilities and with Asda and John Lewis just round the corner too, amenities are close by. The vendors are retuning to the Isle of Wight and we hold the keys.
